February 8 2011
Attention motor sports fans in the United Kingdom: If you have been trying to follow IndyCar, or if you want to see what it is all about (hopefully I've done my part to whet your appitite!), 2011 looks to be your year. Sky Sports has confirmed a deal to bring all seventeen events on the 2011 campaign to you live and in HD.
"It's really exciting to have Indycar back on our screens, especially in HD." said Keith Huewen, who will anchor Sky's broadcast coverage. "There is a lot of fantastic British talent in the sport at the moment, including current reigning champion Dario Franchitti. We've seen Dario's career come to life on Sky Sports, and over the next two years we will see the conclusion.
"This year will be huge for Indycar and to have the next two Indy500 confirmed on Sky Sports really excites me - it's where the world's biggest motorsport event belongs."
In addition to Franchitti, Justin Wilson and Mike Conway (who is returning from injuries suffered last May at Indy) will carry the colors for Britian in IndyCar in 2011. We are still waiting to hear about the 2011 plans of 2005 series champion Dan Wheldon and of Alex Lloyd.
The 2011 IndyCar Series season beings on March 27 in the streets of St. Petersburg FL: The start time is still TBD.
