Plenty Of Interested Parties

The Honda Edmonton Indy has died a sudden and unexpected death, but the 2011 IndyCar Series schedule might not end up missing it much. Although it has only been a few days since the announcement, several other Canadian cities are already lining up to replace the Alberta venune.
Octane Motorsports Events Inc., the race's promoter (they are also behind the annual Canadian F1 GP in Montreal) and ICS management are looking at possible venues in Vancouver, Calgary and Quebec City.
ICS CEO Randy Bernard is eager to keep a second Canadian event on the calender, both because of the series' popularity there and because the Edmonton event date fits in nicely with the Toronto weekend from a logistics standpoint.
Vancouver had a history with the now defunct CART/CCWS series, hosting a street race from 1990-2004, so it is reasonable to presume that they wish to use the same 'course' in their current bid. Quebec City reportedly has three seperate groups trying to put a proposal togeather, including one involving business mogal and FAZZT Racing co-owner Andre Azzi: This appears to be the bid that Octane is most interested in. I have no information on the Calgary proposal.
