Not Dead Yet?

The Delta Wing might not be the car that the Indy Racing League wants in it's future, but that doesn't mean that it can't find a home somewhere else: At least that is what Delta Wing LLC's CEO Dan Partel is banking on - and actively trying to make a reality.

Partel has been talking to (among others) a number of European car manufacturers about mating the Delta Wing up to 1.6 litre in-line four cylinder 'Global Racing Engines', a concept which many see as the future powerplant of several racing series. “We are moving absolutely as fast as possible and I hope to have something concrete in three or four weeks time,” Partel recently told a reporter for Motorsport Magazine.

If he can find a GRE supplier, Partel hopes to have a working Delta Wing chassis ready for testing in about six months. From there, the plan is to have a car that is ready for general production and active competition by early 2013.

With whom is the only remaining question as far as Partel is concerned. "... the beautiful thing about motor racing is there’s more than one sanctioning body out there.”
