July 14th...

... is the day that the "future car strategy" for the IZOD IndyCar Series will be unveiled. “The ICONIC Advisory Committee continues to work diligently to finalize our future car strategy and a decision is imminent,” Randy Bernard told reporters on Wednesday. “We look forward to unveiling our plans to our teams, drivers, partners, fans and the media during a special event on July 14.”
As the regular viewers of this site already know, the ICONIC (Innovative, Competitive, Open-Wheel, New, Industry-Relevant, Cost-Effective) Advisory Committee has been reviewing the proposals submitted by five different companies who are vying to build the next generation IndyCar, which is (as far as I currently know) due to be ready in time for the 2012 season. While nearly all IndyCar fans would love to see multiple chassis options, it is widely held that all of the companies are pushing for an exclusive deal, citing production costs.
As soon as I hear of a specific time for the press conference - and whether or not www.indycar.com will carry it via live video streaming (I assume that they will) - I will pass that information on in a follow-up post to this story.
