Quietly Setting Up Shop

It is not uncommon for there to be talk of a handful of potential new teams joining the IndyCar Series around this time of year, and it usually turns out to be just that; talk. The big rumor, which has been going around for a few months now, concerns the efforts of former CART/IndyCar driver and BAR-Honda F1 Sports Director Gil de Ferran to set up a squad.

Therefore, I hope that you will understand, and forgive me, if I have let another start-up fly under the radar of my attention until now.

FAZZT (pronounced "fast") Race Team is a colaboration between former Kelley Racing (1998-2004) co-owner Jim Freudenberg, Canadian businessman Andre Azzi, veteran driver Alex Tagliani and former actor/racer Jason Priestley. The four business partners have bought up the assets of Roth Racing (defunct since late 2008) and are well along in the process of hiring key personnel & making the Roth facility their own, as can be seen in the video documentories posted on their website: http://fazztraceteam.com/.

There is no news yet as to who the major sponsors will be, but FAZZT has already announced that Tagilani has been signed to a four year deal, with an option for a fifth season, which would seem to indicate that they are feeling very confident with the level of finiancial backing that they have been able to attract to this point.
