Dixon Takes Win, Points Lead

The 2009 IndyCar Series championship points lead switched hands yet again this weekend as Scott Dixon claimed his fourth victory of the season. The Kiwi finds himself back atop of the standings, although he is being closely hounded by Ryan Briscoe and Dario Franchitti.

At this point in the season, it appears that these three drivers will decide the championship amongst themselves.

After starting from the 3rd grid spot, Dixon lead most the late going at Mid-Ohio, with polesitter Briscoe following him home in 2nd; Franchitti grabbed the final podium spot after starting 6th.

Refecting on his current points lead, Dixon said; "I don't really care for leading the championship now. The only time you want to lead it is at the end. If you can get a runaway now and start building some points on those guys, that's going to be important. But I can see (the race going) down to the wire."

Earlier in the day, Vision Racing's James Davidson won the Firestone Indy Lights support race.

The next IndyCar Series event will be on August 22, at Infineon raceway at Sonoma, CA.
