Two Races For Brazil?

Normally, the Indy Racing League plays their cards very close to the chest when it comes to setting up the next year's race schedule. That being said, Crash.net is reporting some very interesting rumors regarding not only which venues could be on the 2010 list, but what we might see come 2011 or 2012.

As I have reported earlier, the league is looking at a couple of options for a race in Brazil to start the 2010 schedule: Crash.net is saying that there may well be TWO. IRL commercial divison president Terry Angstadt has been looking into venues Ribeirao Preto (Helio Castroneves' hometown) and Campinas. Holding two events in Brazil in March would get the year off to an earlier start, which is what Angstadt wants. "We thought we were off the radar screen too long when we started in April this year, and that was one of our goals, to start in March," he told Associated Press.

Angstadt and competition division president Brain Barnhardt have both said that they would prefer that the schedule not grow beyond eightteen events, meaning that one of the current veunes would have to be cut in order give way for two races in Brazil.

The 2010 IndyCar and Firestone Indy Lights schedule could be released as early as the weekend of July 30-August 1, when the both series will be racing at Kentucky Speedway.
