Good news for the fans of the IndyCar Series' only owner/driver: Sarah Fisher has picked up more support from her primary sponsor, enabling her to add two more events to her 2009 race schedule; Texas and Homstead-Miami.
Discount merchansing chain Dollar General has expanded their deal with Sarah Fisher Racing, allowing Sarah to add the Texas (June 6) and Homestead-Miami (October 11) to her previous itinerary of Kansas (this past weekend), Indianapolis (May 24), Kentucky (August 1) & Chicagoland (August 29).
“Sarah's story is very inspiring to Dollar General," chairman and CEO Rick Dreiling told reporters, "She's incredibly hard-working, incredibly dedicated to her sport, and the way she approaches the sport and the way she approaches the team, quite frankly, is the way Dollar General approaches its business. I'm incredibly proud and excited that Sarah Fisher will be wearing the Dollar General yellow and black this year so, on behalf of all of your friends at Dollar General, Sarah, great racing in 2009.”
Sarah finished in 13th spot at Kansas on Sunday, her best finish yet in four races (three in 2008) as an owner/driver. Her best ever series finish came in 2000 at Kentucky, where she finished 3rd after leading several laps in the late going.
