STR Mugello Test Recap

Scuderia Toro Rosso came to the three day F1 test session at Italy's Mugello circut looking to find answers. Their GP results thus far in 2012 have been less than what was hoped for, so getting 'on form' is becomming an urgent issue. Working on set-up configurations and trying out new aero bits was the focus of the past three days.

Tuesday was rainy, and Jean-Eric Vergne only got in 32 laps. Wednesday was much better, and between JEV and Daniel Ricciardo the squad logged 87 laps. Thursday was also dry, with Daniel putting in 117 laps.

This was Vergne's first time at Mugello, but he quickly adapted to the circut, in the end calling it "fun to drive". Ricciardo has driven the circut previously.

Chief Engineer Laurent Mekies called the test session "very productive", noting that; "we got through plenty of work, testing several new  components, with both drivers completing a high mileage. The team worked hard  here in Mugello, but now that work must continue in the factory, as it is up to  us to choose the best configuration and set-up specifications for the upcoming  races and the right path to follow in terms of car development. That will  involve carrying out a careful study of all the useful data we have gathered  here.”
