"All The Small Details"

The 2012 Chinese Grand Prix weekend got off to a wet start, with rain pelting the circut Thurday night into Friday morning. This left the course in a less than ideal state for FP1, resulting in fewer laps run than the Scuderia Toro Rosso squad would have liked.

Drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne got in only 16 and 14 laps respectively, with neither driver getting below the high 1:39s for their best lap times: Still, it was enough to slot them in at 9th & 10th on the charts.

Conditions for FP2 were better, allowing the guys to log over 30 laps each, and shaving roughly two seconds per lap off of their FP1 times: Daniel's time was 12th fastest for the session & JEV's was 14th fastest. They each tried out different aero set-ups, allowing the team to gather asmuch information as possible from which to select from for tomorrow's qualifying sessions.

Afterwards, Chief Engineeer Laurent Mekies declared himself to be satisfied with today's efforts. "The day went well with no major car issues and we have a reasonable amount of data to look at tonight. In terms of performance, it still looks as tight within our group as it did at the first two races, therefore doing well will depend on doing the best possible job of putting together all the small details.”

Qualifying for the 2012 Chinese Grand Prix begins at 7:00 AM GMT on Saturday.
