Scuderia Toro Rosso switched up the driver order for the final pre-season test at Barcelona. Jean-Eric Vergne got to drive on Thursday and Friday while Daniel Ricciardo sat waiting for the weekend to slide into the cockpit.
The team logged 113 laps on Thursday, dialing in the STR7's cornering grip. Vergne said afterwards that the car has very good high speed grip and that, while not yet quite where he would like it to be, the low speed grip is getting better.
"I don't think we'll ever have enough, but we'll keep pushing until the end of the year," he said. "The more grip you have, the better it is. We've made some good progress."
The Friday program was hampered by an early morning fog, which cut down on the available track time. Vergne was only able to log 45 laps, but still made progress on the aero package, as well as getting more pit stop practice.
Daniel Ricciardo will take over the driving duties on Saturday. Jean-Eric Vergne will not sit in the STR7 again until the Melbourne GP weekend.
