The mid-February delivery of the STR2 forced Scuderia Toro Rosso to have a late start with it's testing and further development. In spite of this fact, Scott Speed sees alot of potential in the car and believes that the squad from Faenza will make great strides in performance in the early GPs.

"I'm optimistic about the year because I think it is going to be a great season for us," Scott recently told reporters. "But the beginning of the year is going to be very tough for our team. We still have quite a bit of stuff to learn about our car.
Out of everyone we are probably going to be the ones that progress the quickest at the beginning of the year. The difference from race one to race four for us is going to be a big one."

Scott added that he believes that STR will be showing solid gains in performance by the time that F1 makes it's first European "stint" of 2007 at the Spanish Grand Prix.
