Britain: Jenson to wear special 'England' helmet

With the World Cup having kicked off on Friday, and the England team winning their opening match against Paraguay, Honda Racing F1's Jenson Button will be wearing a special 'England' helmet for the British Grand Prix.

Jenson's race helmet livery has been redesigned for the British Grand Prix to incorporate the red and white cross of St George with the word 'England' emblazoned through the cross.

His normal helmet encompasses the entire Union Flag, with the famous red, white and blue design modified to read JB on the side.

"It's a very big weekend for British sport and this is my way of demonstrating my support for the England football team," explained Jenson. "I've met a few of the players and it's a great team they have in place. I wish them the very best of luck in the World Cup and I'll certainly be cheering them on."

Jenson will be starting the race from a disappointing 19th position on the grid. However, as the circuit offers a number of passing opportunities, he remains confident of a points finish.

"Everyone wants to do well in their home race and I could have done so much better today," explained Button, "but I believe that points are possible and I'll be doing everything I can to get back up there tomorrow."

The British Grand Prix starts early, in order to make way for the World Cup. The race itself starts at 12:00 BST.
