Testing starts at Vallelunga

The Honda Racing F1 Team began a three-day test at the Vallelunga circuit in Italy yesterday morning. The weather conditions have been warm and sunny all day with ambient temperatures of 28°C and track temperatures reaching 40°C degrees during the afternoon session.

Third driver Anthony Davidson began the test in chassis RA106-02 completing an aero programme in the morning session over 69 laps. He spent the afternoon running through a tyre programme for the forthcoming Monaco Grand Prix, completing a further 58 laps. Anthony completed 127 laps in total today, setting the fastest time of the day – a 1:01.847.

In chassis RA106-06, James Rossiter also worked through an aero evaluation in the morning session. Although his afternoon running was interrupted with a couple of small mechanical problems, James completed a short tyre programme, with a final lap tally for the day of 76 laps.

Jenson Button will join the test tomorrow taking over in chassis RA106-06. Anthony will continue his running in chassis RA106-02.
