Australia: Australian Grand Prix Gallery

The Australian Grand Prix gave us drama and excitement, with some success and some failure. It also produced some good photo's, the best of which we present here in our Gallery.

Melbourne put a lot of effort into the Australian Grand Prix, trying hard to make it bigger and better each year.

As do the Foster's girls.

Jenson Button sits in his car, waiting for practice to begin.

Felipe Massa makes it easy for Button to pass.

As the race approaches and the drivers prepare for the start, Stirling Moss looks on.

Into the first corner, and Jenson Button leads!

A difficult start for Rubens Barrichello, but he soon finds his rhythm.

After a safety car period, the slow-starting Honda RA106 is easy prey for Fernando Alonso.

Barrichello alone on track, just the thoughts of how to go quicker keeping him company.

Button pushes on through the race, but is there a problem?

As the race continues, the problems grow.

Eventually the chequered flag is waved.

But will Button make it?

Grinding to a halt just yards from the line, the RA106 has had enough.

Jenson, a points finish almost in the bag, walks away disconsolately.

At least one person can keep smiling - even if they're being paid to do so.
