After leaving WilliamsF1 after a convincing debut in 2000, Jenson Button spent a couple of mediocre years with Benetton/Renault before returning to form at Lucky Strike BAR Honda in 2003.

For the most part the English youngster didn't get involved in the 'war of words' with Jacques Villeneuve earlier this year preferring to do his talking on track where he roundly beat the Canadian.

In his second year of F1 Jenson, in Eddie Jordan style, took his eye off the ball and clearly let the glitz and glamour go to his head, to the detriment of his racing.

This year however he has rediscovered his hunger and focussed himself fully on his race-craft.

It's been widely forgotten that when Button joined Williams at the start of 2000 he signed a long-term deal with the Grove outfit, a team which knows the true value of nurturing young talent.

Whatever else you read, make no mistake, Jenson Button was always part of WilliamsF1's long-terms plans, for Frank Williams is very keen to have a British driver on board and winning races.

At the time he joined BAR in July 2002, Jenson was interviewed by pitpass.com editor Chris Balfe, who persisted in nailing down the reality behind the youngster's long-term future with WilliamsF1 and clearing up any misunderstandings.

For some time pitpass.com has been hinting that Button is the man who will return to Grove and take up where Mansell and Hill left off.
