They promised us a 'nail biter', a thrilling 'fight to the finish'. Indeed F1 Racing magazine described it as "the closest championship showdown ever seen".

Instead we got something akin to a comedy of errors a Formula One farce.

Thanks to the Indianapolis stewards it became a two-horse race with Michael Schumacher making hard work of that one golden point...
