Lucky Strike BAR Honda's test driver, the baby-faced Anthony Davidson, is set to participate in next years F1 circus, taking the wheel of the BAR006 in the Friday morning practice sessions.
"This is a dream come true," said Davidson, speaking to Autosport magazine. "It is what we planned would happen and, although some people said it was stupid staying at BAR as second test driver, we knew there was a chance for something like this."
Although he stayed at BAR, the have been various sportcar outings, including an unsuccessful entry at Le Mans.
"It is priceless to be able to learn all the tracks that are on the calendar and to be in the limelight for two hours on the Friday of grands prix."
The FIA announced plans to allow the bottom six teams to run a third car during Friday's sessions in 2004, but there are eligibility criteria. The car can also be run in a different livery, so perhaps we'll see BAT running different branding on Davidson's car.
