A tough time for the Lucky Strike BAR Honda drivers, as they finish the first free practice session at Hungary languishing in 13th and 14th place, with Jenson Button edging just 0.1 seconds ahead of Jacques Villeneuve.

At the top of table is ex-BAR driver Olivier Panis, taking his Toyota around the revised Hungaroring in 1:21.770, five seconds slower than last years fastest race lap. Behind him line up Trulli, Montoya, Barrichello and team-mate Da Matta.

As is becoming common, the only Bridgestone runners in the top 10 were the Ferrari's of Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello. Surprisingly, the next fastest Bridgestone car was Frentzen's Sauber, less than 0.2 seconds ahead of the BAR's.
