Mercedes boosts from new hard tires?

It is no secret that Mercedes has been struggling with tires for long. At pre-season testing the most problems came from harder compound. Now seems to be that Mercedes might get few answers for the tire problems solved with these "new hard" tires. Is it key to get finally all pieces together. We will see at SPAIN this weekend how it goes. Here is interview about the matter. Nico and Lewis answers:
"The [new hard] tyre is closer to the operating window of the medium," explained Rosberg.
"The hard was the tyre that we had the most problems with, especially here in winter testing with all the graining. The conditions that we have on the weekend here will help."
"The temperatures we get at the moment are massively high, for everybody. It is just that in cold conditions the temperature range the tyre is made for is important.
"Bringing it to a lower temperature range is the temperature the tyres are designed for. It will make them work in a more normal way and not have as much graining for example."
"I definitely feel that this is going to be different," said Hamilton. "Obviously Bahrain was very much rear limited there.
"On my side of the garage we were quite positive, at least in the second half of the race. So I am excited about the things we learned in that race and hopefully we can bring it here.
"Here is about balance between front and rear degradation, so front left and rear tyres will be an interesting one.
"We have the new harder tyre which hopefully will play into our hands a bit more - but everyone is in the same boat. However, with the [track] temperatures also, we stand a better chance."

Ferrari?? They did rather well with these 2013 spec tires. So i quess they might also lose a little bit. Dont know.

Lotus and FI clearly the losers. RB and Merc the winners.

The hare and the tortoise... Lol
Lewis saying he could not drive any slower.... Was shameful
I do not know how this tyre issue will be fixed but after three years with the same old problem year after year, even if Merc started from the drawing board like they do every year, they will still have this problem
I think Merc are going for broke in quali and hoping for the race. Last year, they had the quickest car over one lap but sacrificed the set up to achieve good results in the race
Nico was going backwards last year same as this year
But one thing for sure, 50 yr pensioner is just as quick as Hamilton. Nico deserves respect as he can manage his tyres better than Lewis.
Anyways. PR machine is well oiled.
I hoped we would have been but clearly not..
Quess RB also lost. Again with changes.
Ferrari with TC and own tire manufacturer. Who can guess the WDC 2013? Now its seems pretty easy task.
Pthyi..
@ timba, you could be right... also no penalty for alonso with the unsafe release vs hamilton.

LoL: All the same as it was in 2012: tortoise takes points (already 50!) and hare takes "carrot"
