Not a favourite with many fans, but a golden opportunity for front row and top qualifiers.

Valencia has pretty much established itself as a none event filled race, but it still offers 25 points to win just as the more exciting races like Spa and Monza. So from a team’s outlook it’s pull out all the stops and do as well as possible.

This brings us to Nico and Michael. If Michael were on par with Nico and not trailing him 67 to 2, Mercedes would be second in the constructor’s battle by one point, not down the list in fifth. I’ve noticed fans of Mercedes have mostly backed off ranting and raving over MS’s small point tally. The gloating of two seasons ago has tempered itself to disappointment in 2012. We have come to realize the team needs both drivers to put the Silver Arrows on the map. This year it’s very difficult to grasp the bad luck Michael has endured. There’s no reason to re-hash the seven races as we all know the results. Even with this lack of results Micheal’s fans remain steadfast. They feel his ability as a driver is intact and will surface as early as the next race, which is this weekend in Valencia. It was hard not to notice the ear to ear smile on Schumacher after his qualifying run at Monaco. If the same feat could be duplicated without a 5 grid penalty, we would be in good shape for the traditional train in Spain.  It’s pretty well assured Nico who usually qualifies his way towards the front of the grid will fend for himself giving Mercedes that much needed one two punch. Michael’s racing luck or fate has to be in line for a break. Granted pressure is on both Mercedes and the seven time champion to perform. I think if we take both sides of fans, those who are foes and his loyal world-wide base of followers, will most likely agree that he is above all a very talented race driver who sees all the ins and outs of the F1 game. Taking the pole in Monaco demonstrated both Michael and car has what it takes to win.

In closing the above is all speculation until “The Schumacher of old” surfaces or “The old Schumacher of today” secures some excellent results allowing Mercedes AMG to begin to get on track and move upwards in the constructor’s race.
