The Honda Racing F1 Team continued this week’s test programme at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona today as the team finalises its preparations for the start of the 2008 Formula One season. Jenson Button joined the team in the morning, taking over from Alex Wurz in chassis RA108-02, with Rubens Barrichello continuing his running in chassis RA108-01 for a second day.
With the start of the season in Australia just over two weeks away, the drivers focused on qualifying and race distance simulations, complete with live pit-stops, today. Unfortunately neither driver was able to complete the full planned race distances this afternoon as their running was brought to an earlier than planned conclusion with two different issues stopping the RA108 cars on their second stints. The team have identified the cause of today’s problems and will be implementing the required fixes quickly.
Jenson completed 66 laps today, finishing 9th on the timesheets, with Rubens totalling 73 laps.
Alex will re-join the test programme today for the final day to take over from Rubens.
