King bored by Principality

Well that was exciting, wasn’t it? If you’re a visitor of our message board here, you will have probably heard me say that I have been looking forward to seeing Honda Racing F1 at this race ever since I went on holiday to the Principality back in August.

I was amazed when I was talking to a taxi driver there who told me that the build up to the GP and bringing back normalness (if there is such thing as 'normal' in Monaco) can disrupt the streets of Monte Carlo for up to three months.

When I asked him if this disruption in any way annoys him his reply was "sacrifices have to be made to get the most exhilarating and thrilling Grand Prix to watch in the world."

However, amidst all the exhilarating activity involved in the Grand Prix de Monaco that indeed made it such a thrill to watch, remarkably I still found time to assemble a piece of furniture on lap 39 without missing much.

But then, there wasn't much to miss, was there? In fact, that furniture I was assembling took me from lap 39 to far past the race-end.

If truth be told, I still hadn't finished putting it together by the time ITV had stopped showing Mark 'let's see how many times I can use the word 'what' inappropriately in this interview' Blundell had finished adding his 'expert analysis'.

But his inability to grasp the whole concept of when to use the word 'what' when there are far more appropriate words such as 'that' or 'which' isn't what annoyed me most about ITV's post-race broadcast. It's that Blundell was stood there, on a balcony, probably with some sort of drop, and not one of the ITV crew pushed him off. Sure, it would probably take some work to push that man anywhere, but don't they have no initiative. Sorry, don't they have any initiative – it seems Blundell-speak rubs off...

But, back to the furniture. Now, whether it's the fact that I'm male or the fact that the Swedes cannot write instructions that hampered my speed in assembling it is debatable, but if I now inform you that that 'furniture' was more an accessory, a table lamp to be precise, you can see that the length of time it took to assemble it was just ridiculous regardless.

However, maybe I shouldn't aim all my frustration at the Swedes – they are, after all, trying to save the planet with their bio-fuels, and remember, saving the planet is the somewhat contradictory message being sent out by our beloved team by their stupid paintjob.

Maybe they should stick to saving themselves.

They didn't do much of that in Monaco, did they? Points shouldn't be what Honda should be aiming for after all this time in F1 and they don't need me to tell them that, but they are. What's more, they threw that opportunity away. They missed a chance to at least get equal on points in the Constructors' with their B-team because of a stupid strategy.

I feel that now, the team really need a name. Not a name like Nakamoto, but one really synonymous with Formula 1, someone who is actually familiar with four wheels rather than two...

Someone like Ross Brawn. Perhaps that's just a dream, though. So, how about someone who has designed a race winning Honda in the past.

Someone like, say... Geoff Willis...?
