The results for the 2019 Hungarian GP would again see the ROKiT Williams team finish down the order with George Russell finishing in 16th and Robert Kubica 19th. But for the first time George was able to race with other drivers rather than seeing them drive off into the distance. For Robert the race was to struggle with a car that did not provide him with a great feeling, something that the team needs to address. But overall it was a promising weekened with the team making improvements, be they small, with the FW42. Now the team has the summer break in which to refresh and come back even more motivated to resolve their issues.
ROKiT Williams Hungarian Grand Prix Race Review
After what was one of the best
qualifying results for the ROKiT Williams Team with George Russell finish in
16th the team would get ready for the seventy lap 2019 Hungarian GP. George
would start the race from fifteenth after other driver grid penalties and
Robert Kubica from nineteenth. On pole would be Verstappen followed by

Raikkonen tenth. Of the top ten the top six would all be on the medium tyre.
Both Williams drivers weer also on the medium along with the bottom half of
the grid except for Ricciardo who was on the hard. On the soft were Norris,
Sainz, Grosjean and Raikkonen. It was expected that the medium tyre runners
would pit around lap twenty one.
With the race start it would be Verstappen leading from Hamilton and Bottas.
Leclerc would get past Bottas while for Williams George was able to move up
to 14th and Robert was 20th. Vettel would also get past Bottas with the
Mercedes driver suffering damage to his car, the front wing, after making
contact with Leclerc. Sainz was sixth followed by Norris, Raikkonen, Gasly
and Grosjean tenth. Lap five and Verstappen was leading by 2.2 seconds over
Hamilton. Robert was running a lonely race at the rear of the field. Bottas
would pit on lap seven dropping to the rear of the field taking on the hard
compound tyre. George was now running in 13th as a result of Botta's stop.
George would be passed by Kvyat dropping back down to 14th. Magnussen would
also close in onto George and on lap thirteen he would pass the Williams.
Ricciardo would also pass George seeing the Williams 16th. Robert was still
20th having been passed by Bottas.
Bottas would also pass George
seeing him now in 17th. At the front Verstappen was leading Hamilton now by
1.9s on lpa seventeen. Leclerc was third followed by Vettel, Sainz and
Norris sixth. George would pit on lap eighteen switching to the hard tyre.
This would see Robert now 17th and George 18th. Perez would pit on lap
twenty one joined by Robert. Perez would drop to 16th and Robert goes 20th.
George was running in 17th as Grosjean pitted coming back on the hard tyre
in 16th. Kvyat would pit on lap twenty four returning in 16th like every
other driver running on the hard. Lap twenty four and the order was
Verstappen, Hamilton, Leclerc, Vettel, Sainz, Norris, Raikkonen, Gasly,
Hulkenberg, and Albon tenth. For Williams George was in 17th and Robert
Verstappen would pit on lap
twenty seven taking on hard tyres. He would come out in front of the
Ferrari's. George was running around ten seconds behind Grosjean. Leclerc
would pit on lap twenty nine changing to the hard tyre. He would return in
fourth. More drivers would pit including Gasly, Norris, and Albon. Hamilton
was now leading but on very well used medium tyres. Hamilton would pit on
lap thirty three. He would also take on the hard tyre. This would see
Verstappen again leading from Hamilton, Vettel, Leclerc, Sainz, Gasly,
Hulkenberg, Raikkonen, Magnussen, and Norris. Magnussen would drop out of
the top ten as he was passed by Norris and Bottas. Hulkenberg would pit on
lap thirty nine taking on the soft tyre and returning in 15th. Vettel would
pit on lap forty one taking on the soft tyre returning in fourth..
Lap forty two and the top ten was Verstappen,
Hamilton, Leclerc, Vettel, Sainz, Gasly, Raikkonen, Norris, Bottas and
Ricciardo tenth but Ricciardo was yet to pit. Bottas and Ricciardo would pit
on lap forty nine with Bottas now on the medium and Ricciardo the soft.
Bottas was now twelfth and Ricciardo fifteenth. Hamilton would also pit on
lap fifty taking on the medium tyre. He would return still ahead of Leclerc.
Bottas would get past both Toro Rosso cars to now be tenth. Grosjean would
retire in his pit and Stroll would pit switching to the soft tyre returning
behind Robert. George was now thirty three seconds behind Ricciardo. At the
front Hamilton would slowly close the gap to Verstappen. Lap sixty three and
the gap was just over six seconds. He would eventually pass him on lap sixty
eight and would go on and take victory in the 2019 Hungarian GP. Verstappen
would finish in second followed by Vettel, Leclerc, Sainz, Gasly, Raikkonen,
Bottas, Norris and Albon tenth. Verstappen would set a fastest lap having
pitted just before the end of the race switching to the soft tyre. For
Williams George would finish in 16th and Robert 19th. Both would finish two
laps down with George over sixty seconds behind 15th position. It was a race
that saw George be able to fight with other drivers rather than seeing them
disappear into the distant so it was a race that had some positives for the
Williams Team but there is still a large amount of work to do to find
further pace from the FW42 as well as trying to bring Robert closer to his
