Ferrari took no time at all to settle into the new look Hockenheim circuit and Ross Brawn puts that down to great work by the simulation guys in the factory at Maranello. Using references from last year the simulation gave Ferrari a good idea of what set-up then needed here and as the opening practice session showed they got it nearly perfect.
“Well we did a lot of simulation work so our boys did a very good job to get the car close to as we predicted,” said Ross. “It’s not really a technically challenging track but I think it will be a good racing track with overtaking opportunities, its quite interesting.”
“Our simulation had a minimum level of grip and a maximum level of grip and we try and simulate what level we think it will be. Knowing the tarmac in the stadium section from last year was not going to change meant we had a good reference point so our guys did a pretty good job.”
