Strategy genius Ross Brawn has played a part in all but three of Michael Schumacher’s 61 race wins but it is the driver who takes all the plaudits and rightly so according to Brawn. Schumacher survived a pit lane penalty to come through and win the race in dramatic fashion.

"He is the ultimate Formula 1 driver,” said Brawn. “People try to make comparisons but I do not know how you can do that as in the modern era there is no one near him. I’m lost for words for a change. It was incredible. We were looking good at one stage then we had the drive-through penalty. I was telling him that there was another car behind him and I think I put him off so put that one down to me. Michael was unhappy about it but we could see what had happened on the television. It was a close call but the stewards were consistent in penalising people. Luckily the pitlane is very short here."
