Irvine who is looking set for retirement this season has said that although Ferrari are the best in the field with their professionalism the pressures that come with this are massive and something will soon give.

"There's no weak area that they have, the wind tunnel's been up and running now for four years, they've got that area under control. They've got the engine under control. The way that team works, the professionalism is beyond belief, you need to be inside to understand it. Luciano Burti who's the test driver came to me and said, 'Jesus, it's incredible, I don't know how you can take the level you've gone down to,' because at Ferrari there is nothing left to accident."

But the cycle of F1 and domination is going to turn soon according to Irvine, who feels that Williams and McLaren (note no Jaguar) will soon be at the top, stating that he has heard that the pressures at Ferrari are getting too much for some people. Who these people are he does not name, which would suggest he has heard no such thing but needs to be controversial for his tabloid article.

"The amount of workload that they have down there is quite incredible and eventually that will start to break people, because they're working so hard,” said Irvine. “I've already heard from guys there, it's just gone too far and they're working too hard and they want a break. And that's the natural cycle of things."
