A fantastic race from several points of view, is how Michael Schumacher saw things after winning the British GP, with team-mate Rubens Barrichello alongside him for the fourth Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro one-two finish of the season.

“It was a really fantastic race; definitely for me and even more so for Rubens who came from the back of the grid to finish second. Ross, the mechanics and the entire team all did a perfect job, without making a single mistake, when it could have been easy to get it wrong today,” said Michael Schumacher.

“This grand prix was run in unusual circumstances and was just the sort of race where anything can happen. Our pit stops were perfect, while our competitors had problems, which can often happen with a race run in changing conditions. Everything has to happen very quickly and there is a high risk of getting it wrong. This time it happened to them, but it can happen to anyone.”

Asked about his battle with Montoya, Michael said it was “A close and therefore very interesting fight. We have often duelled at crucial moments and he has always been fair and correct. I like fighting with him.” Schumacher reckons the next race in Magny-Cours could see a closer contest. “The French track is very different to this one. Usually it is very hot there and as a grand prix it can be similar to Canada,” said Michael. “What do I expect there? I hope I win! Because that’s how I tackle every race. The championship is important but I like to enjoy every race and that what I plan to do now, given that this was a fantastic race.”

The German was asked if beating Rubens Barrichello today was revenge for the World Cup final. “I don’t think you can compare the two. We just have to wait until 2006!”
