According to rumours then the regulations governing the hour long qualifying sessions could be about to change. The FIA are reported to be looking into way to guarantee track action throughout the 60 minute session. Most sessions these days are very sparse in action on the track in the opening 30 minutes with most of the teams waiting until the last possible moments before really going for it.

One suggestion being rumoured to be under consideration is that every 15 minutes a driver will have to discard a set of tyres. With the driver being limited to just 4 sets of tyres in the session this means they would lose 1 qualifying run on fresh tyres if they failed to take the track within the 15 minute breakdown of the session.
