Ross Brawn felt like he was part of a TV show whilst he was laid at home with a sore back. Brawn felt like the reality TV show ‘Big Brother’ as he watched Friday free practice via TV and video link up with the team direct from Monza.

Ross Brawn revelled that it was whilst he was out cycling that he suffered a slipped disc in his back, a highly painful injury as anyone who has suffered one will testify. But it was back to business for Brawn today as he took up his place on the pitwall, even getting a pat on the back from Luca di Montezemolo (although not too hard a pat). Brawn had felt he was ‘Big Brother’ to the Ferrari drivers Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello as he joined in their briefings via video link up.
“I’ve had some back pain for a while now,” said Brawn. “Then I went out cycling last week and got a slipped disc. I think I’m not built for cycling.”
“I was at home, but we had a video-link set up. I also had all the timing screens on the digital channels so I could see what was happening. But I have to say, I am more relaxed being here than I was at home. I think our drivers were surprised that I was in touch all the time. They felt it was like having “Big Brother” watching them!”
Barrichello had earlier commented on how Ross being away from the track was not really a problem, “He was not there physically but by the time we came to meetings and so on it was exactly the same just using video-conferencing.”
