A perfect season from Ferrari has seen then win all but 2 races so far this season and now they are ready to face their own fans as the Italian Tifosi descend on the historic Monza circuit. Ferrari will receive a heroes welcome from the fans and they will be hoping to cap off the weekends party with another race win.

Monza will be a different race to that of Belgium though, with engine power at is premium here it is rumoured that Ferrari will be using a special updated qualifying engine just for this occasion. The F2002 has so far shown no weakness on high speed or slow speed circuits so the team will be confident that this race will be a competitive one from their point of view. A new aerodynamic package will be on show this weekend as Ferrari aim for their seventh 1-2 finish of the season.

Michael Schumacher having won the Belgian Grand Prix was cautious not to predict to much from Monza, but make no mistake he will be out to win this one in front of the Tifosi. Michael is no stranger to winning in front of the Tifosi having won in a Ferrari here 3 times and every time he does it he can feel the emotion from the fans. He will be looking for that feeling once more come race day! With his tenth win of the season and a new record sealed in Belgium some are thinking that Schumacher will take a back seat now and let Rubens Barrichello secure the second place, but that remains to be seen.

Barrichello himself is no slouch around Monza in fact he has always been very quick around here and will certainly be pushing Michael more this weekend than he did in Belgium. The Brazilian should have won this event last year but once more his luck ran out and a slow pit-stop handed the win to Juan Pablo Montoya (Still his only win to date). Last year the event was overshadowed by the events of September the 11th so this year should be a much more joyous occasion.

Testing this week was strangely hosted at Monza so it gave all the teams the best possible chance to be very prepared for this weekend. And it will also have given the tyre companies some very good data as to what tyre to bring to the race weekend. Both Michael and Rubens enjoyed two days each of testing and both will have used that time to their advantage.

The challenge to Ferrari is most likely to come from the Williams/BMW team who will be confident that they can put in a much better show than they have done in the previous races. But with the McLaren pace shown in Belgium they as well could be ones to watch. Further down the grid Alex Yoong will return for Minardi after his two race break and Sauber will be hoping to remedy their appalling race at Spa with a strong performance here.
