Jordan at Silverstone but no running.

Jordan have spent the first day of their three day test session in preparation for Nick Heidfeld and Giorgio Pantano to test new parts for the EJ14.

Club Jordan were invited to today's test session and Club members were given the opportunity to visit the Jordan Garage and see the preparation for themselves.  The test engineers were putting one of the EJ14 chassis together in the garage.  The second chassis will be put together overnight and the team plan to have a third EJ14 on standby.

It was unfortunately a bit of a grey day at the Northamptonshire circuit.  There was a fine drizzle first thing and most if not all of the teams were running with their wet weather tyres on.  The weather played a big part with the test, even catching out the rain master himself and throwing Michael Schumacher onto the grass at the Maggots and Becketts.

There were only three teams missing from today's test, if you include Jordan who didn't run.  The others were Sauber and Minardi. The rest of the grid ran for most of the day.  Kimi Raikonnen was in attendance for McLaren in the new B-Spec car.  It still seemed fraught with problems.  The engine certainly didn't sound right on a number of occasions.

Jordan's protégé Takuma Sato was in the driving seat for BAR although the team suffered an engine problem early on in the day and only really took to the track for the last hour of the test.

There were a number of F1 luminaries at the circuit today.  At one point, Sir Jackie Stewart made an appearance in the Paddock, along with the usual F1 personalities.  Eddie Jordan met Club Jordan during the lunchtime break.

Jordan advise that Giorgio Pantano is to take to the wheel tomorrow and on Thursday.  We understand that Nick is to join him on Thursday.
