Eddie Jordan has struck pure Bahrainian gold in a deal that is sure to secure the fortunes of the team for the rest of the 2004 World Championship season and beyond.
In a massive deal with His Highness the Crown Prince Shaikh Salman bin Hamad bin
Isa Al Khalifa, this years EJ14 will run with a diferent international
humanitarian, charitable and cultural message or image at each of this years 18
races. The first having been revealed a s a dove of peace.
"We feel that Formula One is a valuable platform on which to promote positive
humanitarian and cultural values on a global scale." said the Crown Prince.
"Each Formula One Grand Prix is watched by countless millions of television
viewers around the world and we believe that this is a unique way in which to
remind people of issues that are important to all of us. I am proud that Bahrain
is associated with this fresh and inspired way of communicating sensitive and
yet significant issues."
"This is a bold initiative from Bahrain," said Eddie. "And what better vehicle
to drive issues of international importance into the limelight than a Formula
One car? Thanks to Bahrain providing space on the car to highlight charitable
and humanitarian causes, they will be brought to the attention of the millions
of viewers who watch each Grand Prix.
It's also positive for Formula One, bringing the sport closer to the community.
We welcome suggestions from race fans the world over as to what should be
displayed on the cars during the year. At each Grand Prix we will unveil a new
emblem and there will be a range of projects supporting this. For example at the
end of the season we will auction all 18 engine covers for a charitable cause."
He added.
This a fantastic initiative from both Bahrain and Jordan. The deal ensures that
Jordan will receive the maximum media potential at each race, keeping F1 fans
and the press interested in the next design as well as raising awareness of
certain issues. The deal also opens up the potential for local sponsorship deals
in 2005. If there are no objections from the FIA or other teams, Jordan could
open give local companies the opportunity to put their messages over to their
local race fans as well as giving themselves global coverage.
