Frentzen leaves F1

Ex-Jordan race winner Heinz Harald Frentzen has announced his retirement from Formula One. The German who won two Grand Prix for Jordan in 1999 is to turn his hand to the German DTM racing series.

"I thought long about this step." said Frentzen. "I considered it all very carefully. I don't think DTM has anything to envy to Formula One and I don't feel sad at all. I'm looking forward to exciting races." 

"I must get used to having a roof over my head but it was important for me to have four wheels under my bottom again."

After a long and perhaps chequered career in Formula One, Heinz drove for Williams, Jordan, Prost, Arrows and Sauber.  He was dropped by Eddie Jordan, just before the German's home Grand Prix and Sauber failed to renew his contract, instead opting for Felipe Massa and our old whinger Giancarlo Fisichella. Prost and Arrows went bust whilst he was driving for them.
