Speculation has been made over a communication from the BBC which alludes to a premise that Jordan could be rebadged as Jordan-Smarts for the 2004 season. There's a quote on the Messageboard, that has been attributed to the BBC.

"Jordan's expected deal for Mercedes customer engines could lead to the cars being badged Jordan-Smarts, in deference to the two-seat urban car built by Mercedes.  There are also said to be talks exploring the idea of closer links between Jordan and McLaren in terms of technology transfer and political allegiance".

The story ( in it's entirety above ) has been posted on the BBC Website at http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/3081367.stm

There are a variety of comments on the messageboard.

Jordangpboy said "Its all about brand awareness, Smart are releasing more cars to their line up so it would make sense to Mercedes to have brand awareness around the world… And anyway I wouldn’t mind a Merc engine in the back of the Jordan!"

Nuflyer said "Again this is another of those speculative stories....who knows??  Ford have done and said nothing. (worryingly) and Fisi wants out yesterday. So, yet another year of changes ahead of us."

There's been no reaction from Jordan to this snippet, however if some information appears, we'll let you know.

Meanwhile, feel free to join in the debate.
