Jordan test day 2 and Davidson tests for BAR

Further testing gremlins hit Jordan today as the team continued the first major test of the 2003 championship challenging EJ13. Like yesterday's test, the car only covered a minimum of laps with a total of 17 completed, however the car was able to put up a timed lap.

Fisichella's fastest lap was well off the pace of the Ferrari but less than 1 second behind the Jaguar R4 of Mark Webber and in front of rookie Antonio Pizzonia.

Giancarlo was able to run 3 timed laps during the afternoon session, where work was done on engine mapping and system checks.  The technicians should have plenty of data to pour over.

Gary Anderson said, “We had various problems today, but fortunately we know why they happened and we overcame most of them to get the car out and running again in the afternoon. Giancarlo was able to do three timed laps on dry tyres, and the last runs highlighted a small problem which will be rectified overnight ready for tomorrow. I’m pleased that we were able to collect some data from dry track conditions, giving us something useful to analyse to help us understand the car better.”

An interesting look at the timing chart however shows that there were three Ferrari's running but more importantly, Anthony Davidson was in attendance and testing for BAR.  Has Davidson accepted a test role for 2003?  If so, another name can be scrubbed off the list for the second Jordan seat.  This leaves Felipe Massa, Enrique Bernoldi and Eddie Irvine.  Perhaps we can even discount Irvine from the equation.
