Driver's Driver

The stars turned out in force for last nights Gala Grand Prix party, held during the Autosport Show at the Birmingham NEC this weekend. The now annual "Bernies" were awarded and Giancarlo Fisichella was voted the Drivers Driver of 2002.

The category was voted for by all of the other drivers and test drivers.  Surely such an honour and our Fisi was the first recipient.

Giancarlo has been very underrated in the Formula One Press and this award just goes to show that Jordan has an eye for driving talent.

Giancarlo's main aim for 2003 is to win his first race and is hopeful that the Jordan EJ13 will give him that opportunity.  However if the chance came, Giancarlo would take a drive with one of the top three teams.

"The car looks good and the target for me is to win my first race in Formula One and be really competitive.  If the Jordan is very competitive this year then I have one more year with Jordan. But obviously if I have the opportunity to drive for one of the best teams like Ferrari, McLaren or Williams then it would be a good chance."

The Awards were in aid of Professor Sid Watkin's Brain and Spine Foundation and raised over $400,000 it began.
