Is Irvine part of the Jordan Ford deal?
Steady Eddie

Internet reports suggest that Jordan have a bundle deal from Ford. Not only have they secured Ford-Cosworth engines for 2003 but it appears that the deal includes one Eddie Irvine.
Global Motorsport Media have learned from an exclusive source that Ford's return to F1 has Eddie's return to Jordan as part of the bundle. It looks like Ford are having a clear out at Jaguar in preparation for winding the team down next season.
Team sponsors Benson and Hedges are understood to want a British driver in the team and have insisted that EJ arranges this. DHL are also understood to want a German driver in the EJ13. There could be therefore a complete driver change for 2003. Takuma Sato's position in the team looks shakey enough as it is with Honda on their way out. If EJ bows to the sponsors pressure or there is indeed a deal with Ford then Takuma is certain to loose his seat.
One bonus may be that Ford will take care of the Ulsterman's wages. Jordan who have financially suffered earlier in the year may be forced to take Irvine to save on a massive wage bill.
Eddie Jordan has said that there is more to be announced but there is nothing confirmed yet. It will be interesting to see as the remainder of the season pans out.
