Let’s hope it’s not a repeat of our trip down there last season, when Bath had around 30+ players and overran Bedford, which really made it a non event for both teams.

I suppose it will depend on what sort of team Bath put out. They don’t have a Prem Cup match this weekend so potentially it could be very strong.

So assuming Jack, Eckersley and Finch are all injured. Assuming none back for start of the season we don’t have a 7 and Royston will be the backup loosehead. Jack and Finch missed the first game too so presumably serious injuries.

Continuing preparations for the upcoming Gallagher PREM on 25 September against Harlequins, closely followed by the Investec Champions Cup on 17 October against Montpellier at The Rec, Bath will build on their work over pre-season and recent games against Perpignan and Sale Sharks.

Naming his squad to take on Bedford, Johann van Graan is looking to give his players some valuable minutes before the season starts.

Claudius Wheeler starts at loosehead, Dan Frost at hooker, and tighthead Archie Griffin returns to play after recovering from a toe procedure at the end of last season.

Adding their experience, Quinn Roux and Ross Molony are named in the second row.

Miles Reid captains on the open side, with Arthur Green getting a start at 6 and Dan du Preez completing the pack at Number 8.

Tom Carr-Smith and Ciaran Donoghue start at 9 and 10 respectively.

In the midfield, Cameron Redpath and Ollie Lawrence pair up as the game’s starting centre duo.

The starting back line is completed by Henry Arundell and Joe Cokanasiga on the wings and Tom de Glanville at full back.

Players named on the bench include Will Stuart, Louie Hennessey and Tom Dunn, who all return from injury.

The game kicks off at 19:30 tonight at Goldington Road. It will be live streamed on ClubberTV (£4.99).

Well, Compo, I bought a programme and not one of the starters for Bath listed in the programme actually started. A Rassie Erasmus ploy, perhaps.
So far as Bedford's performance in the first half was concerned, supporters can look forward to an exciting campaign. Bath may have taken the second half but legions of replacements flooded onto the field against a tiring Bedford, so little surprise. Bedford showed great character to keep going and deserved their try.
I was a bit confused by the ref's signal just prior to Bath's breakaway try. I thought he had signalled a penalty advantage for a Bath player entering the ruck close to the Bath line from the side. Bath turned the ball over, ran the length of the pitch and the try stood.
Bedford can be proud of their performance. They tamed an exceptionally dangerous Bath back line in that first half and showed them how to score. The scrum held up well throughout the game. I was pleased with Bedford's overall discipline. Generally good communication and decision making that made offloads effective. Some cracking tries.
Congratulations to both teams for making it an enthralling evening of open, running rugby.

I was really impressed by Blues, we showed great attack in the first half against international players. We didn't seem overpowered. There was one scrum where they destroyed us.

2nd half was always going to be hard, they had more on the bench than we had in the squad! We also weakened a bit.

I thought Fred looked bigger as did Evans.

The main thing was it appeared that there were no injuries.

The result was never ever going to be in doubt, the Blues one team faced off against Bath's various teams.....were there two or three of them?

Yes, Hooded you are correct the ref did award a penalty to us.......and then forgot it as Bath went on to score another try.....by which time it did not matter!

We should be proud of our team who put in a fantastic effort against fully professional side......I am getting good 'vibes' about us for the season, a mild winter could see us challenging all of the 'heavyweights' in the league......COYB.
