Do we want Carroll back?

As several sources are reporting that we are readying a bid for our ex number 9 Andy Carroll, and that ever reliable source, ‘bloke down the pub,’, who did happen to be a West Ham fan also concluded that there is an awful lot of rumours down southern land I thought to myself, ‘myself I said do I want him back?’

Now I want to say straight away this is a footballing question, not a question of betrayal, which if he returns I am willing to chalk up to he went to get his injuries off our payload for a while, if he doesn’t well the word ‘splitter’ comes to mind.

So my first concern is would he actually fit in with the style we now play?

Obviously as I am not sure what style we will actually be playing next season, and with this many new players, neither does anyone else.

But I would imagine given time the players may well be ‘Pardewed’, I don’t mean that as a compliment. So probably.

Next the really big question, fitness.

Is it worth spending 15 million on a player, with the track record of a crash test dummy?

There is a large part of me that wants a local lad back and doing well.

But there is a larger part of me that thinks, it may be a better idea to take a punt on someone that is capable of at least a walk to the shops without picking up a season long lay off.
