At last. We make a start.

We have signed a player. Now let’s just take a minute for that to sink in. We have actually signed someone for real money, not a loan, not a free and actual player, who is ours. Well wonders will never cease. I would like to think the penny has finally dropped, we need players, let’s sign some.

 Siem de Jong has signed from Ajax and credit where it’s due, if e plays to his potential, what a cracking signing he could turn out to be.

After joining he stated:

It’s great to have signed for Newcastle.

“It is a big club which my brother told me all about, so I already feel good here.

“I had been at Ajax a long time and wanted a new challenge in a new environment and a new country.

“Coming to Newcastle is a great opportunity and the chance to play for a club like this in the Premier League was one I could not turn down.

“I am looking forward to starting training and meeting my new team-mates, and hopefully we can have a successful season.”

Later adding to that on twitter saying:

 “Time for a new step in my life and in my career, #Ajax I will never forget you #THANKYOU @NUFC here I come!”

While it doesn’t solve all our immediate problems, it is certainly a step in the right direction, so welcome to Siem.
