Match Preview/Stats/Thread: Liverpool v NUFC

Newcastle United travel to Anfield tomorrow for the final game of the season against Liverpool. Newcastle go into the game on the back of their first win in their last six games, whilst Liverpool have won four of their last six but host of the back of a defeat to Chelsea and a 3-3 draw against Crystal Palace last weekend.
Newcastle have conceded 14 goals in their last six games and scored just 4, compared to Liverpool who have conceded 10 but scored 15.
Brendan Rogers was having a fantastic season with the League Cup almost in his hands last weekend before he watched his side give away a 3-0 lead in the last 11 minutes of the game. Whilst Suarez came off the pitch in tears, title rivals Manchester City were celebrating as Liverpool will now need to hope they win and that City lose to West Ham in their final game. Alternatively any draw (other than a 0-0) for Pellegrini’s side would mean Liverpool need to score at least 13 goals to match their goal difference.
Andy Carroll will be out to make a name for himself tomorrow afternoon. He is expected to start for West Ham and could really spoil the party for Brendan Rogers who sold him on shortly after his arrival at the club. In doing so, the former Newcastle United striker will be hoping to push his way into England manager Roy Hodgson’s plans.
Newcastle however can finish 9th, win, lose or draw providing Stoke City do not take all 3 points against West Brom at the Hawthorns.
It would seem that Alan Pardew has banished Hatem ben Arfa from anywhere remotely near the first team and so the Frenchman will not be considered for the game, despite his appearance of social media over the last week or so suggesting he has no idea what his manager is playing at.
Papiss Cisse (knee) and Luuk de Jong (ankle) are both unavailable, so Pardew will be relying on Loic Remy, who goes back to QPR afterwards and Shola Ameobi to see out his Newcastle United career with some goals, despite having scored only twice so far this season.
Davide Santon is unavailable as is Adam Armstrong who is on International duty.
Jordan Henderson will be available for Liverpool after coming back from suspension for the final game of the campaign whilst Philippe Coutinho will be hoping for a starting place.
Despite a reasonable League position for Newcastle, nobody can argue that it couldn’t have been better, if not for a string of dramas since Xmas. Pardew can claim a league place higher than last season but can only continue to be embarrassed by the behaviour which saw him spend much of the second half of the season away from the pitch-side. The sale of Cabaye embarrassed the club and inability to score goals without on loan Loic Remy pretty much sums up the season.

Could of at least give one of our youngster strikers a game

Shame we've come to rely on such players again after getting rid of mercenaries like him when we got relegated and created a team who wanted to wear the shirt with pride
We've gone backwards this past few seasons
An a brighter note would be delirious if we manage to hang on to a win and city somehow lose would make up for 96

No idea why Ameobi has been sent off, bbc saying violent conduct but i only saw him having a go at the ref
Has anyone ever seen a player leave the pitch as quick as shola did when he was sent off
Will they manage to strengthen and avoid FFP sanctions though now they're in Europe?
I'll concede; I for one had forgotten how much had been spent on the less successful signings (Borini, Aspas, Sahin, Assaidi, etc.).
One thing that can be put in the teams favour is we're in a strong position now to buy where other teams in Europe will be encouraged to sell (last 5 years windows put us at a net gain of ~£45m).
Whether the club actually does spend is still to be seen however.
Take a look at the money Real Madrid (bank rolled by government) and Barcelona spend without getting in any signs of trouble
Thing is clubs have clever lawyers and accountants so it all boils down to if the club wishes to spend money and under the fat one the answer is no for us unfortunately
And the bin dippers will justify spending out on players from new sponsorship deals from cl qualification
I believe we will get more than the 1-2 players stated by charley as it's a ploy to fool the supporters into renewing tickets we will probably sign 3-4 players
But the thing is while the gullible think its great we got 4 instead of 1-2 what they fail to realise is we will still be weaker squad due to losing 7-8 from an already thin squad
