Fernando Alonso topped the timesheets as Ferrari continued its impressive test with the Pirelli tires on the final day at Abu Dhabi.

Alonso finished the day with the best time of 1.40.529 and 105 laps, which was almost double the race distance. For a while, Michael Schumacher held 2nd spot before his best time was disallowed for cutting a chicane, which dropped him down to 7th.

Like yesterday, Sebatian Vettel was 2nd and again had tire failure similar to the one he had on day 1. The cause of the failure is likely the same as the previous one he suffered.

Alonso was confident that Ferrari could adapt to the new tires and was happy with the day’s performance. "Overall, I am quite happy with the behavior of the tires. They are not too different to the previous manufacturer so in a way I think it will be a very smooth transition with no big drama."

The Pirelli tires, barring Vettel’s two failures, have been positively received by most teams and drivers. The tire manufacturer itself is sure it will be more than ready for 2011.
