Ferrari performs strongly in qualifying at German GP

Fernando Alonso drove the wheels of the Ferrari, but missed by two thousandth of a second to give pole position to Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel, much to the delight of German fans.

Felipe Massa gave a great performance after a long time, to finish 3rd on the grid for tomorrow's race.

Fernando drove brilliantly all day, getting the maximum out of the much improved F10.

He topped the first and second session of the qualifying and it was looking a Ferrari 1-2, until the German drove a breathtaking lap to snatch the pole.

With the track suiting to Ferrari's liking, and Mclaren seemingly struggling a bit, tomorrow seems to be a fight between the Ferrari and Red Bull.

The tyre compounds for tomorrow being extreme hards (introduced for first time) and super-softs, it would be really interesting how the teams adjust and make the most of it.
