Rossi might be driving Ferrari in 2011 - Luca Montezemolo

The MotoGP champ had set the track ablaze on his two-day test in the F2008 at Circuit de Catalunya, missing the lap record set, by Kimi Raikkonen two seasons back in the same car, by few hundredth of a seconds.

Coincidentally Rossi's contract with Yamaha ends this year, and though never acknowledged openly to media, its clear that the Italian is relishing a drive with Ferrari.

The tests timings had created a flutter in the F1 and MotoGP camps, with Yamaha team boss Davide Brivio expressing fear that he might lose his ace driver to F1, and specifically to Ferrari.

Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali too, impressed by the timings, felt that Rossi would be an ideal candidate should F1 rules change and allow teams to run third cars.

However, Luca seems to give no air of doubt that he may be ready to put the Italian in the regular driver's seat, currently occupied by Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, if the opportunity rises.

Though Rossi and Felipe both had tested the car at the track, in the same week, Felipe's times were never published. It may be that Felipe was getting used to the F1 car, since he was just back after injury, and may be engineers were only collecting data. However, one can never tell anything for sure in F1.

With the current season still more than a month away to start, and teams gearing up for testing, it seems a long way before anything concrete could be said on this speculation.
