No it's not April 1st as today it's been officially announced one of the worlds most destructive batsman Adam Gilchrist has signed to play at least 5 20/20 games at Lords. On the same day Indian Legend Sachin Teldulkar is rumoured to join him. Wow
Arguably on the the greatest wicketkeeper/batsman in history of world cricket has signed to play for Middlesex. Also the worlds highest scorer in test cricket Sachin Teldulkar is believed to be in talks with Middlesex.
The deal for Gilly is that he will play 5 20/20 games at Lords and a 50/50 game against Aussies. There maybe more particular as Richmond is where he first started playing cricket in the Middlesex league.
Gilly has a reputation for explosive hitting and 20/20 cricket suits his style perfectly. He has had major success in IPL helping Deacon Chargers to title and scored the fastest 20/20 century in 42 balls there.
I witnessed Gilly batting at 7 in Perth destroying England with a quick fire century with controlled power hitting. At time the thought of seeing him in Middlesex colours would seem far fetched.
Gilly's keeping is more than adequate but would guess he will play as hard hitting batsman.

I'm really struggling with this......
I know how good he is as a wicket keeper and batsman but.....
As one of the australian team..... I HATE HIM!!!! No really, how can he play for the Middle against his home nation?
I dunno... I guess I'll just have to bury the hatchet somewhere?!

Well done to all at Middlesex who arranged this.
If he gets going it really will be 'Tin Hats Time'.
Hopefully we can watch the ball disappearing over the horizon time and time again.

Also, there are probably numerous instances of someone who is not part of their country's national team playing county cricket, and in doing so playing a match against their national side.
