Sato believes new updates will close the gap

This week the team will be testing new parts at Barcelona, in an attempt to close the gap with their nearest rivals for the San Marino Grand Prix.

Super Aguri have come a long way since the start of the season, from four laps down in the first grand prix, to three laps in Malaysia, then managing to stay within two laps of the race winner in Australia and bringing both cars to the finish.

However, Super Aguri are a competitive team and are no longer satisfied with just finishing, in order to be in a position to start moving up the ranks, Super Aguri are beginning an extensive test program to develop their package. This week in Barcelona the team will be evaluating new parts in a bid to catch up with their nearest rivals, and Sato believes that slowly but surely Super Aguri will be able to fight with other teams, "I'm expecting we can begin to close the gap step by step so that hopefully in a few races' time we will be able to have a head to head battle with our closest rivals."
