Felipe Massa piped British star Lewis Hamilton for pole as Anthony Davidson celebrates 13th place but thought he could have done more.

Felipe Massa battled hard to fend off Lewis Hamilton to pole as they look set to battle for the lead tomorrow but can Lewis Hamilton take his first race win in his debut season? Massa will look to make up from his rookie like performance in Sepang where he let both McLarens scamper off into the distance and made a few trips to the gravel trap. Both drivers managed to out pace there team mates Kimi Raikkonen in 3rd and Fernando Alonso in 4th who both could be on heavier fuel strategies.

Bmw Sauber duo Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica locked out the 4th row in 5th and 6th continuing there strong form, Fisichella gets Renault into the top ten for the first time this season in 7th place and Webber has a quiet quali in 8th making it into the top ten for the 3rd time, Jarno Trulli makes another appearance into the top ten in 9th and finds more speed than his team mate who sits in 14th place while Rosberg sits in 10th for Williams and rounds off the top ten being beaten by there supplier Toyota.

Wurz fails to make the cut in session 2 and qualifies 11th getting out qualified by his less experienced team mate, Kovalainen fails to get through to the top ten yet again this season and sits in 12th place who suffered a fuel pump problem earlier this morning. Anthony Davidson had a superb run for us in 13th missing the top ten window by 0.2s but did manage to out qualify his team mate Takuma Sato the battle is hotting up between these two. Behind him is Ralf Schumacher in 14th and its his first time out of the top ten as he struggles to find speed in the Toyota.

Hondas problems continue but at least they got into session two with Barrichello leading the way in 15th and button in 16th. Takuma Sato comes 17th being beaten by both Hondas and his team mate although it is unclear why he suffered such a blow but we will bring you more news as we get it. Liuzzi ended up 18th a big change to his Friday form with Speed 19th stopping on the circuit with a gear box problem.
Sutil out qualifies his team mate and David Coulthard a big surprise for Spyker which took them out of there usual positions of 21st and 22nd. David ended the session in 21st who didn’t expect to be where he was, this also means that he’s been knocked out of 2 of 3 quali session 1s.
