Different Race for Super Aguri as McLaren Triumph

April 8 2007

Today was a very close race with Fernando Alonso ending McLarens winless record. With Hamilton netting 2nd making that there first 1-2 since 2005. While Super Aguri round up in 13th and 16th in perhaps the most physical and exciting race of the year

Fernando Alonso scored his maiden win with McLaren while Lewis Hamilton continues to show his fantastic pace fending off Massa in the early stages in the race and Raikkonen in the latter stages to finish a well deserved 2nd place his best so far. Kimi Raikkonen finishes where he started in 3rd, complaining that the engine was down on power and that he had to nurse it to the end of the race. Nick Heidfeld has a stunning drive to 4th with his F1.07 package fending off wacky racer Felipe Massa in 5th who made several mistakes today. Fisichella had a quiet race today and commented "6th is like a podium to us at Renault"

Jarno Trulli managed to hang on in 7th and Hekki Kovalainen had a better race in 8th although having a few mistakes but noting like Oz. Alex Wurz had a "fun" race in 9th but it could have been a lot more with Nico Rosberg running in 6th until what seemed to be an engine failure. Webber ended his Sepang swansong in 10th finishing his first Sepang race of his career, with Barichello following behind making the best out of a bad car although they claimed the car was better on a long run. Again it was a Honda train as Button finished behind his team mate after hitting the Spyker of Sutil and having a good scrap with his team mate and Toyotas Ralf Schumacher. Takuma Sato finished the race in 13th place but insisted he could have been higher up the grid if it wasnt for a slow pitstop, while Toro Rosso have there best finish yet with Speed in 14th.

Ralf Schumacher had a dismal afternoon and finished in 15th and it is unknown why he finished here as he was on his teammates pace in qualifying. Our Anthony Davidson trails in 16th struggling with grip and balance while making a few rookie errors to. Tonio Liuzzi was out performed by his teammate in 17th has Speed proved he deserves to keep his seat?? Robert Kubica rounded off the finishers in a lowly 18th his worst position of his career, after a number of problems such as radio failure, brakes and careering of the track a few times which didnt help his tyres or cooling system.
