Midland Rumour Mill Ends Here

"Ooch, We're all doomed!" cried Corporal Frasier more than once through an episode of Dad's Army. Despite the chant of impending failure, Captain Mainwaring always managed to pull it out of the bag and save the day.

The British media, usually intent on slapping someone while they're down seem to be taking the Corporal Frasier approach to the rumours that seem to be appearing daily on the internet. (Someone somewhere is definitely short of idea's only 10 days after the last race).

So far, the rumours have suggested that:

• Colin Kolles is leaving.
• Alex is selling up.
• Colin has discussed 2008 in a meeting with the FIA.
• The team has a cash crisis.

We've been told on many occasions how the team are going to fold, that Alex isn't investing and that Midland won't be around by the end of the season, however we've been told all this by lots of people that are in no way connected with the team and by people who have nothing better to write about. Rumour propagates on the internet like wildfire. Someone posts a rumour, then the next person picks up on it and before you know it it's all over the place like a rash. If only Norton could write an anti-rumour program, they'd be minted.

The point here is that NOBODY at Midland, official or unofficial has ever uttered a word to us or the rest of the Worlds "Press" about these issues. Where is the evidence?

So far, the truth is that:

• Midland are upgrading their wind tunnel.
• Midland have signed the 2008 Concorde Agreement.
• Midland have spent a fortune re-branding the team.
• Midland have designed and upgraded their own car.
• Midland continue to test.
• Midland have suited and booted the team (rather smartly too).
• Midland have provided an official fan club.
• Midland have invested in the future.
• Midland are here for the long haul.

Why would anyone who had achieved all this in such a short space of time want just to give up and get out. What a waste of time, money and effort. Nobody can expect miracles straight out of the box. That's not possible. Midland are building on the remnants of their previous incarnation and that can only take time.

We are in privileged position by being in direct contact with the team. Both Huw and I have received e-mails from our sources expressing Midland's frustration that the press don't want to take Midland seriously. "I'm beginning to sound like a broken record" said our source today.

Perhaps the press will pick up on this story and listen to us, the true fans of Midland F1 Racing. We all need to be thick skinned. We know that the press doesn't like us, that ex-Jordan fans rue the day that Eddie sold up / out, that perhaps there's a bit of bad feeling about a Russian involvement but we must keep the faith. Midland are here for a long while yet and woe betide anyone who thinks otherwise.
